What is – EVL Web (3D Secure) on my credit card transaction statement?

Sometimes we find items on our company credit card bill that have us scratching our heads.

We had one today for EVL Web (3D Secure) - searching on Google to find what this credit card statement item is for did not bring up much but eventually we found the answer and we'll share it here to save others time in the same search later.

EVL Web (3D Secure) on a credit card bill is DVLA / Car or Van tax payments made online.

EVL in this context means Electronic Vehicle Licencing, not Evil Violent and Loathsome of course.
